Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff Working On New Album | Heathers Reboot in the ...

Well, Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith have a new song track that’s coming out called GET LIT. And it just Debut'd Sunday August 27th.
They performed the song at the Livewire Festival 2017 and just before they performed the song, Will told the crowd that they were working on a new record "that you haven't heard yet".
When asked about the new song - Will Smith said:
"I wanted to make a song that allowed people to let their light shine. We all have inner light and sometimes this world. People can say stuff to you and tell you you can't do and you know you can but when they tell you that, it kinda knocks you down a bit right. So I wanted to make a record that reminds each and every one of yall to let your light shine."
I love this message and think it couldn’t have come at a better time, with some much strife and anger in the world.
And people like Will and Jeff are trying to set a positive message and let people know they can persevere.
This does go with the same style and message that we have seen time and time again from the duo, with their clean lyrics and appearance and in the message we receive as fans.
As a kid, They were one of the few Rap Groups I was allowed to listen to without having to hide my RAP loving roots.
But with songs like "I think I can beat Mike Tyson, Nightmare on My Street, and Summertime " They were very popular in my house, and these were songs that were fun to listen to and Parent Approved.
And with that! On to some RETRO TV news!
Yall remember HEATHERS, that movie about 2 people that plot to kill three popular girls named Heather. Ya, good movie right? Well, someone decided not to leave it well enough alone and its being reboot as a TV series.
As if we didn’t already have enough violence and crap happening in schools, I for one think its just not the right time for this type of show.
Don’t get me wrong, I loved Heathers and I think it’s a great story line, but with all the troubles in schools these days – I just don’t know..
Not only that - Why havent these TV Networks realized that you can't take a movie plot, and try to regurgitate it into new storylines each year.
Next thing you know, they will try and make a TITANIC TV series. It could happen..
Ok, so lets move on to some RETRO Fashion stuff!
Once again. High Waisted Jeans are back in STYLE!
No, not those High Waisted jeans. Im talking about the High Waisted jeans, that were pleated and tapered with popular brands like Jordache, Guess, and Z Cavaricci.
Well, Cavaricci who first launched his fashion company in 1982 just announced they are making the jeans again, and they are going to be sold exclusively online and will come at a pretty hefty price point, at more that 225 dollars for a pair of ugly ass jeans.
May be good they cost so much, cause if your gonna wear that god aweful style, you might as well pay the bozo cost that goes along with it.
But, we all know - with people like the Kardashians and Jenners wearing these styles, were sure to see it all over the world in the blink of an eye.
Im sorry Valentino Garavani - I tried to warn them. Just sayin'

Jerry Seinfeld Going Old School in New NETFLIX Special | Jetsons reboot ...

Jerry Seinfeld just announced that he is going to be doing a new Netflix special, that will debut on September 19th.
The hour long set is called Jerry Before Seinfeld, and it will feature jokes and stories from his comedic life BEFORE he became a huge star.
It will rehash old material that put him on the map at the start of his career and will also show lots of footage of him from his childhood.
I've watched some of his old standup specials, and they are hilarious.
I am a little bit surprised he went this direction with his show though, cause its been 20 years since we've seen a stand-up special from Jerry.
I do like this concept of bringing back his old school act, and think it’s a good way for him to re-introduce himself to the younger generations that may not know him.
Just hope the younger generations think his act is still relevant, cause this could be a huge gamble for the 63 year old.
Then, On to Retro Gaming news!
Starting on August 28th at 11 AM Pacific Time, 123 episodes from the original video arcade game show from 1982 will be airing back to back on SHOUT FACTORIES TWITCHTV channel for 6 days.
And why should I watch some old ass game show about arcade games you may be asking?
Cause the show is awesome, and this is a great opportunity to see what it is all about, since the reboot is just around the corner.
Also, guest host Erika Ishii from the show Geek and Sundry will be introducing the episodes and doing commentary.
The stream is SHOUT FACTORYS way to advertise the upcoming STARCADE reboot, which SHOUT FACTORY has been tight lipped about so far, but it probably wont be long before we hear news on when the show will air.
Also, The SNES went on sale for pre-orders on Tuesday, just after midnight and it was a cluster.
Not only did most of the stores open up pre-order sales just after midnight, but by morning time, they were sold out.
I've heard that periodically, you can catch it available on amazon and Target, but that’s a shot in the dark.
Next, lets talk about TV and Movie stuff.
For those that love the show Halt and Catch Fire, this season may really hit home with all those that remember the beginning of the Internet age.
This 4th and final season, which just started last week will spawn some nostalgia for the early days of the internet and its already kicking off with a bang.

if your not watching this show, I highly recommend it. It’s a really fun show that gives you a glimpse into how the computer boom happened, and You can catch it Tuesday nights on AMC.
Then Variety.com just put out news that the Jetsons is coming back as a live action reboot with ABC just putting in a order for a PILOT episode to be made.
There's been no word on a cast yet, but it looks like it may have Robert Zemekis as executive producer, so that’s a good start.
If the pilot episode does well with the Network, it could get picked up as a new series, so here's hoping that it doesn’t bomb.
And next, were gonna change gears for a minute.
As a kid, I grew up watching really old comedy movies like The Nutty Professor, Cinderfella, the Bellboy, and the Patsy.
All of these, legendary Actor and Comedian Jerry Lewis Starred in.
Well. Jerry Lewis died Sunday August 20th, and he was 91 years old.
Jerry Lewis was a comedian that anyone around from the late 1950s to the 80s knew well and he was as memorable for his comedy and films as he was for his deep dedication to the Muscular Dystrophy Telethons. Which he hosted from 1966 to 2010 and raised more than a billion dollars for their cause.
Mr. Lewis was truly a great human being and a wonderful man in the eyes of so many. He will really be missed
And here's a quote I'll leave you with from him - "I don't want to be remembered. I want the nice words when I can hear them.
I hope you heard them often Mr. Lewis. Farewell.

80s Fashion Trends are back for 2018 | Teddy Ruxpin Back In Stores | Cre...

Allllrrriiigghhtttt.. so this isnt the NEW Teddy, but according to Wicked Cool Toys, Teddy Ruxpin is being released in stores with an all new version, just in time for the holidays.
Im just now seeing news that pre-orders are starting to come in for those that ordered, so get it while its HOT!
I remember when Teddy Ruxpin was first released in September 1985, I didn’t have one, but I knew a few kids in the neighborhood that did, and they were pretty cool at the time.
This year will mark Teddys 32nd anniversary, and they have made a ton of changes to the toy bear.
To start, it will come with LED eyes that move and change according to Teddy's emotions, it has some smart sensors to control the bears actions, a Bluetooth to connect to a phone or tablet ,and a built-in 4 gig harddrive.
According to Toms Guide, its a lot cuddlier and has less hard plastic in the body. So its softer to hold, unlike the one from 1985 which was bulky and the cassette player took up pretty much most of the body.
The Toy can hold up to 40 stories on the harddrive, which can also be read aloud by kids via a phone app that works with him.
And right out the box, Teddy Ruxpin comes with 3 stories and 7 sing-a-long songs, so this should hold off kids for a little while, but in case it doesn’t, new stories and songs can be downloaded for an additional price.
This seems like it will be a great toy for younger kids and for those that love nostalgia and want to introduce their kids to the toys they grew up with.

I think the fashion statement that put the nail in the coffin was with the Womens High waisted jeans.
This truly 80s trend looks like its back in style and I never thought it would come back, but its here.
With celebrities like Beyonce, The Jenner sisters, Selena Gomez, Justin Beiber and many other celebrities all on the 80s band wagon, I think were in for some interesting nostalgic fashion for 2018.
And as much as people harp on the millennials and younger generation leading the world in trends, I'm actually happy to see them trying to revitalize the 80s fashions like they are.
Theres of course the 80s crop tops, which has already became extremely popular.
Drop crotch pants too, which is all the rage, even though I rarely saw anyone but MC Hammer and Vanilla Ice wearing that style back in the day. Halloween costumes excluded of course.
Then we're starting to see the working class and Celebrities alike bring back the power suit.
And TONS of retro foot wear, especially with the resurgent popularity of Adidas shoes and the Nike Retro Jordan line of shoes from the 80s and 90s.
Theres also shoulder pads, denim jackets, fanny packs, funky fur coats, shoulder dresses, spandex, and even skinny jeans are back in style.
It seems like the 80s fashion boom is just getting bigger and bigger.
Then theres some news about the 2018 release of CREED 2 , and it looks like Sly Stalone has been hinting at a rematch between Rocky and Drago.
IMDB even suggests that Drago may be fighting Adonis in the Movie, but I really don’t think that will be the case.
Yes, I think Drago will be in the movie, and yes, Adonis will probably fight a Russian.. But we will just have to wait until we see some trailers to know for sure whats going to happen.

The Karate Kid original series COBRA KAI from YOUTUBE RED coming 2018

The Karate Kid is being revived by YOUTUBE RED with a NEW original series called COBRA KAI, Also, The Voltron Craze has finally hit the LEGO market. All that and a bag o' chips! Right now!
Waddup to my Peoples! Welcome back to RETRO CRUNCH, your nostalgia news show that is all about Current Pop Culture, Movies, Music, and Games that relates to all things 70s, 80s, and 90s!
Alright, so probably the most anticipated RETRO news to talk about is that YOUTUBE RED just announced that it is making an original series called COBRA KAI. Which looks like its gonna be directly based on the old Karate Kid Movie Franchise.
Its going to be a 10 episode comedy series that picks up 30 years after Daniel san edged out a win in the ALL Valley Karate Tournament. With some vudu magic from Mr. Miyagi of course...
Cobra Kai, is gonna be out in 2018, and will delve into the life of Daniel Larusso and his family as he is drawn back to Karate when his long time nemesis Johnny Lawrence reopens the Cobra Kai DOJO.
The story, aptly named COBRA KAI will be less about just Daniels story and more about how both Daniel and Johnny got to where they are today.
We will probably learn about how Daniel met his wife and raised their children in a post- Miyagi world.
Also, the show will delve more into whether Johnny really was a reformed degenerate that was just put into a bad situation when Daniel came to town and interrupted his chances at turning over a new leaf.
Such a tragic story..
An important aspect of the show according the Ralph Macchio is the absence of Mister Miyagi. I'm sure we will see many flashbacks and thought provoking lessons that Daniel will use as teaching moments for his kids that will be directly influenced by Miyagi.
Maybe some chop stick fly catching, or waxing the new ceramic floors of his McMansion.
So, there you have it. Are you excited that after 30 years, we get to finally see where it all will end?

Voltron, Defender of the Universe is getting a LEGO toy! And it is the brainchild of a contest winner of the Lego ideas Program where the winner designed the LEGO Voltron based on his childhood toy.
This brings up the question of whether LEGO will opt to go with the more Nostalgic version, or in keeping with more modern fandom, opt for the NETFLIX one.
Lego has not made any mention for pricing or availability yet, but said to check back in 2018 for more information.
The wait sucks, but at least we have a LEGO Voltron coming at some time!

MTV is rebooting (TRL) Total Request Live after 9 Years | Dynasty Reboot...

On August 1st, 1981, MTV was created. And just this week, it turned 35 years old.
But to be real honest, MTV is a shell of its former glory. I mean, just look at its current programming and you can see for yourself, with shows like catfish and teen mom.
Now here we are in 2017, and what's on the horizon for MTV?
Well, it looks like they are rebooting “Total Request Live” in Octoberand building a new studio in Times Square.
MTV is hoping that by returning to its music-video roots and bringing back TRL, it will help lift the network’s sagging ratings.
The shows original host Carson Daly will not be returning with the show, but we will see 5 new rotating hosts, who are:
Amy Pham, D.C. Young Fly, Erik Zachary, Tamara Dhia and Lawrence Jackson.
This is a new type of MTV for a new generation of twitter and Instagram followers, but at least MTV is giving it the ol' college try. It will premiere October 2nd, on MTV.
And in Movie News!
For those that remember DEATH WISH from 1974, which also spawned 4 sequels.
Its being remade with Bruce Willis as a medical surgeon turned vengeance killer.
This could be Willis's last chance to rebound from a few unmemorable movies from the past few years.
Its suppose to be in theaters November 22, 2017.
And just in with an update - looks like theres some drama surrounding the new movie trailer, with some saying it has racist and vigilantism undertones. Are we talking about Death Wish, or the Netflix Punisher show - im a little confused?
Then On to Tech News!
Microsoft PAINT, which was introduced in 1985, has passed away!
nah, just kidding.
But, it does look like Microsoft is no longer going to be updating the paint program that’s been around since the mid 80s.
Microsoft did say that they will not be including it after Windows 10 and are moving to a better paint program which allows for 3D painting.
So, really, This just sounds like out with the old and in with the new.
Then next up, in our RETRO FLASH segment, were gonna hit the topics we didn’t get to fully cover in the news today!
Do you miss those old shows about greed is good and excess is best along with tons of catfights?
Well, the 80s soap drama DYNASTY is being reboot and will be back in October 2017 on the CW.
We've already seen a network reboot of DALLAS, so I guess all we need now is Falcons Crest to return too and we have the trifecta!

OJ Finally Got Parolled | BOOGER wrote a NERD Book | AtariBOX Latest News

All that and more, comin' up! 

Hey guys, Welcome back to RETRO CRUNCH, the nostalgia show that is all about Current Pop Culture, Movies, Music, and Games that relates to all things 70s, 80s, and 90s! 

Well, it looks like OJ is getting out of jail after 9 years in prison for his conviction in the kidnapping, armed robbery, and assault of 2 memorabilia dealers in Las Vegas.   

OJ is most remembered for his acquittal in 1995 for the slaying of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman.  Those events all but have wiped out peoples remembrance of his famous and long lasting  pro football career.  Back in 1968, he won the Heisman Trophy and went on to 10 years in the NFL as a running back AND was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1985.   

Hes now 70 years old, and I just hope the Juice can get his life back together and live with some sense of normalcy for the rest of his life, and MOSTLY, just stay out of trouble! 

Next, Most of you may remember Curtis Armstrong..  What?  NO?  Ummm…  Ok.  Maybe you remember him by his OTHER name.  BOOGER!  Maybe From the movie Revenge of the Nerds!??? 

Ya, that’s what I thought.   

Well, for those that don’t know, he has a new book that just came out that has some pretty interesting topics.   

For one, he talks a bit about some of the sexcapades he witnessed while filming Risky Business with Tom Cruise, and if that’s not enough, he talks about how he was not too excited about playing what is now his seminal role of Booger in the movie Revenge of the nerds.   

The book sounds like a must read for fans of  Curtis, or the 80s.  So Deffinately Worth checking out! 

Then, in gaming news - ATARI has put out some new information on their new gaming system called the ATARIBOX.   

The new look of the Atari has some of that old style we were familiar with in the 80s.  The same raised back and, classic wood paneling, and ribbed lines.   

And Atari is including SD card support, an HDMI port, 4 USB port and will be released in wood color and the other one in black and red.   

Right now, ATARI is still tight lipped on the specs, pricing, release date, and games that are going to be available.   

It seems like ATARI may be taking a safe approach back into the game console market, so they can build capital and a new following before possibly trying to up the game and compete with the likes of Nintendo, Sony, and Xbox.  

 I for one and just excited to see the gaming console that turned me into a gamer way back in 1984, is bringing back that RETRO love!
